Graphic Designer - Part Time (Average of 24 Hours A Week)

Job Summary

The Graphic Designer will work with the Grace Woodlands Communications and Marketing teams to create visually engaging graphics, print & digital materials, and multimedia content that support church events, worship services, programs, and outreach initiatives, and marketing growth, primarily in Photoshop.

This position is ideal for an experienced creative professional who is passionate about using design to enhance the church's mission, engage its community, and see direct results.

Key Responsibilities

Design Production: Develop and edit graphic designs for weekly handouts, social media posts, website banners, sermon series, event promotions, outreach materials, print brochures, and other communication channels.
Content Creation: Assist in creating original content and graphics for church initiatives, including social media posts, service slides & visuals, announcement flyers, signage, print trifolds & brochures, along with themed materials for special events and holidays.
Brand Consistency: Ensure that all graphics align with the Grace brand guidelines, expectations, clarity, and excellence while maintaining a cohesive visual identity across all materials.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Communications and Marketing Teams to brainstorm creative ideas and produce materials that enhance the vision of the church, engage the congregation, and those who are yet to make Grace Woodlands their church.
Project Management: Prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities as needed.

Skills

Education & Experience: A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in graphic design (experience within a church or nonprofit setting is a plus).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and other design tools; familiarity with video editing software and other digital media tools is a bonus.
Creative Abilities: Strong design skills, with an understanding of color theory, typography, layout, printing, and composition, especially using heavy text verbiage.
Communication Skills: Ability to understand and interpret the church’s messaging and values to create compelling and relevant visuals.
Adaptability: Able to handle constructive feedback, adapt designs based on team needs, and stay flexible with working hours around major church events and outreaches.
Commitment: A heart for ministry, understanding of the church’s mission, and willingness to contribute to a faith-based environment.

Position Details

Hours: Average of 24 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends as needed for major church events.

Required Skills

3+ years of professional experience in Adobe Creative Suite, with primary strengths in Photoshop.
A knowledge of graphic design techniques including color, layout, typography, etc.
The ability to create illustrations, logos, and designs.
The ability to implement graphics across multiple mediums.
The ability to ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing.
The ability to listen to feedback in order to amend and hone designs.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
Must be able to work with minimal oversight.
Positive temperament, dependability, and professionalism.
