About Kerith House

Kerith House is a 124-acre mountain farm and winery estate in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia. We make fine wine and create spaces where people feel genuinely at home - where families and friends gather to rest, explore, and connect. Guests experience Kerith House through our tasting room, overnight stays, shops, and curated events. Gracious hospitality is at the heart of everything we do.

About the Role

We’re hiring a hands‑on Winery Café Chef to run a compact tasting room café kitchen. This is a true working‑chef role, ideal for a strong line cook or sous chef who wants to own a small, thoughtful menu in a focused, non‑corporate setting.

You’ll design and execute a simple, seasonal small‑plates menu that pairs beautifully with our wines and personally handle most prep, cooking, plating, and end‑of‑day breakdown. Service is steady but not high‑volume, and front‑of‑house teammates support you with dish returns and basic cleanup. This is a full‑time hourly position, with schedules centered around weekends, holidays, and peak seasons.

What You'll Do

Lead the day‑to‑day operation of our tasting room café kitchen in a one‑station, single‑cook setup.
Prepare and plate light fare, charcuterie boards, and café‑style small plates with consistent quality and attractive presentation.
Develop and refine a tight, seasonal menu and rotating specials that complement our wines, keeping the menu focused and manageable.
Handle kitchen prep, cooking, and end‑of‑day breakdown; receive support from front‑of‑house staff during peak times.
Manage ordering, receiving, and inventory for a small kitchen, with attention to food cost, quality, and waste.
Maintain a clean, organized workspace that meets or exceeds food safety and health department standards.
Collaborate with ownership and our Chief Winemaker on pairings, food‑and‑wine experiences, and special events.
Occasionally step into the tasting room to talk through menu items and pairing suggestions with guests as part of the overall winery experience.

What We're Looking For

Experience in a professional kitchen (café, bistro, small plates, catering, or similar).
Comfort working efficiently and independently in a very small kitchen.
Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
Food Handler Certification by your start date; we will support obtaining a Certified Food Safety Manager credential within your first [X] days if needed.
Curiosity and enthusiasm about food‑and‑wine pairing—we’ll teach you our wines, but genuine interest matters.
Strong time management, reliability, and a team‑first approach with front‑of‑house staff.
Availability for weekends, holidays, and peak‑season events.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 30 lbs.
Must be 21 or older due to the nature of alcohol service.
Priority given to candidates who already live within a reasonable commuting distance of Morganton, GA; no relocation assistance is offered for this role.

Experience in a winery, tasting room, cafe, or boutique hospitality setting is especially appreciated, but not required.

Compensation & What This Role Offers

$28.00/hour, based on experience.
Paid PTO: 1 week granted at 90 days; remaining week accrues through year one
Accrued PTO is paid out upon separation
Full-time hourly, with scheduling centered around weekends, holidays, and peak seasons. Typical hours range from 30 to 40 per week and vary by season.
