Overview of the Position:

The Clinical Education Coordinator (CC) over externships for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program is responsible for ensuring the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of the clinical placement component of the DMS program. The Clinical Education Coordinator ensures the appropriate educational clinical experiences for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography students and the availability of sufficient clinical slots/sites. Working closely with clinical partners, the CC ensures that students are placed for their clinical rotations on schedule and meet the requirements established by the site and department. Working closely with the Program Director and program faculty, the CC provides leadership to ensure alignment of course outcomes and clinical experience.

Core Responsibilities:

· Schedules and coordinates student externship hours and assignments

· Reviews student competencies to ensure compliance with graduation requirements

· Assists in providing final clinical clearance for student graduation

· Identifies and secures new clinical partners as required by Monroe University

· Develops and maintains partnerships with internal and external stakeholders

· Documents visits to all clinical sites on a regular basis, as approved by the Program Director, with both students and facilities

· Maintains accurate student clinical files and records

· Reviews records in Complio to ensure student compliance with host facility clinical requirements (e.g., immunizations, background checks, CPR certification, drug testing)

· Ensures clinical records are maintained in a CAAHEP-compliant manner

· Acts as a clinical liaison between Monroe University, clinical partners, and students

· Coordinates student conferences to facilitate learning outcomes and evaluate clinical experiences

· Communicates all student- and site-related concerns and achievements to the Program Director, Dean, and Assistant Dean

· Verifies that students are meeting all clinical objectives and requirements

· Maintains up-to-date affiliation agreements and certificates of insurance for all clinical sites

· Models the values and goals of the School of Allied Health Professions

· Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Director

Qualifications:

· Possess an academic degree no lower than an Associate degree and at least equal to that for which the graduates are being prepared

· Possess current/active credentials in the field of Diagnostic Medical Sonography through a professionally recognized certification

· Proficient in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning

· Demonstrate an understanding of accreditation and regulatory guidelines

Have a minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.

Have documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
