Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee the accounting operations of our organization and support the continued growth of our business.

The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records, managing the month-end close process, supervising the accounting team, and providing timely financial reporting and analysis to executive leadership. This position plays a key role in maintaining strong internal controls and supporting the financial health of the organization.

Responsibilities

Manage and oversee the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Prepare and review journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, allocations, and reversing entries.
Review and reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the trial balance and financial statements.
Record and reconcile daily cash receipts and banking transactions.
Supervise the daily operations of the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Cash Counting functions, managing a team of accounting professionals.
Review invoices, payment processing, cash applications, and account reconciliations for accuracy and compliance.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company accounting policies.
Prepare monthly financial statements and provide financial analysis to the CFO and executive management.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
Coordinate year-end audits and work closely with external auditors by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
Monitor internal controls and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
Mentor, train, and develop accounting staff while promoting a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
Partner with operations and department managers to support financial decision-making.
Perform additional accounting and finance projects as assigned by the CFO.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
CPA designation is preferred but not required.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or management responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Experience with ERP or accounting software systems.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience in retail, building materials, hardware, distribution, or a multi-location business is highly preferred.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Proven ability to lead and develop an accounting team.
