Residential Property Damage Estimator / Appraisal & Reference Specialist (Independent Contractor – 1099)
INTRODUCTION
New England Property Services Group, LLC (NEPSG) is seeking experienced and motivated independent contractors to join our network of professionals supporting residential property damage claims throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity designed for individuals who are interested in participating in appraisal (RI), reference (MA), and estimating work on an as-needed basis.
This role is best suited for professionals who are comfortable working independently, managing their own time, and contributing to claim-related processes on a project-by-project basis.
POSITION DETAILS
Work Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
Location: Massachusetts and Rhode Island (field-based)
Compensation: $20.00 to $50.00 per hour (based on assignment type and experience)
Schedule: Flexible, based on assignment availability
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Residential Property Damage Estimator / Appraisal & Reference Specialist will support NEPSG by providing estimating services, participating in appraisal or reference proceedings, and assisting with property damage evaluation when assignments are available.
This is not a full-time employment position and does not guarantee a minimum number of hours or assignments.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Property Inspection & Evaluation
- Conduct site visits to residential properties
- Evaluate visible damage to roofing, siding, interior spaces, and structural components
- Document findings through photos, notes, and measurements
2. Estimating Services
- Prepare estimates for residential restoration work
- Ensure estimates align with building code requirements and manufacturer specifications
- Provide clear and organized documentation to support claim evaluation
3. Appraisal / Reference Participation
- Serve as an appraiser (RI) or referee (MA) when applicable
- Review claim documentation and participate in dispute resolution processes
- Provide independent evaluation of scope and cost where required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in residential construction, restoration, or estimating preferred
- Familiarity with roofing, siding, or water damage restoration is strongly preferred
- Ability to work independently and manage assignments without supervision
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Professional communication skills
REQUIREMENTS
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to travel throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island
- Ability to access residential roofs, attics, and other property areas as needed
- Access to basic tools and equipment required for property inspections
- Ability to document and report findings clearly
COMPENSATION
Compensation: $20.00 to $50.00 per hour.
Compensation is determined based on the type of assignment and may include:
- Agreed hourly rate for appraisal or reference participation
- Project-based compensation for estimating services
