Job Overview
Join our dynamic team as an IBM POWER 9 iSeries Operator, where you will play a vital role in managing and maintaining high-performance enterprise computing systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our core business operations. As a key operator, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily functions of the IBM POWER 9 servers and iSeries environments, supporting seamless business continuity through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting. Your expertise will directly contribute to optimizing system performance and supporting innovative technological initiatives.

Responsibilities

Monitor and operate IBM POWER 9 servers and iSeries systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
Execute routine system backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures to safeguard critical data.
Perform system updates, patches, and configuration changes in accordance with best practices and security standards.
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues promptly, escalating complex problems to technical support teams when necessary.
Maintain detailed logs of system activities, incidents, and maintenance tasks for audit and compliance purposes.
Collaborate with IT teams to implement system enhancements, upgrades, and new configurations aligned with organizational goals.
Ensure security protocols are followed diligently to protect sensitive information within the enterprise environment.

Requirements

Proven experience operating IBM POWER 9 servers or similar enterprise-level systems.
Strong understanding of iSeries (AS/400) architecture, commands, and management tools.
Knowledge of system security practices and data protection measures.
Familiarity with disaster recovery planning and backup procedures.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to system maintenance.
Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have: experience or training in quantum engineering to support emerging technological initiatives involving advanced computing concepts.
