Job Summary

A Member Concierge at Hammer & Nails is the face of the shop and plays a critical role in delivering a premium member experience. Their responsibilities extend beyond a traditional front desk receptionist—they are responsible for hospitality, member retention, sales, scheduling, and ensuring every guest receives a luxury experience.

At Hammer & Nails Bethesda, we don't just provide haircuts—we deliver an elevated grooming experience. Our Member Concierge is the first and last impression of our shop, creating an exceptional experience from the moment a guest walks through our doors until they leave.

The ideal candidate is warm, polished, organized, sales-minded, and passionate about hospitality. This individual is responsible for welcoming Members and guests, managing appointments, promoting memberships and retail products, supporting the service providers, and ensuring the shop operates smoothly throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities

Member Experience

· Greet every Member and guest with enthusiasm and professionalism.

· Learn Members' names and preferences to provide personalized service.

· Offer beverages and ensure Members feel comfortable while waiting.

· Manage check-in and check-out procedures efficiently.

· Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally, escalating when appropriate.

· Maintain the premium Hammer & Nails experience at every touchpoint.

Membership Sales & Retention

Educate guests on Hammer & Nails memberships and benefits.
Convert first-time guests into Members.
Promote upgrades, add-on services, and special promotions.
Track membership opportunities and follow up with prospective Members.
Assist with Member retention efforts and appointment rebooking.

Scheduling & Operations

Schedule and confirm appointments.
Manage daily appointment flow to maximize provider productivity.
Handle phone calls, emails, and online booking requests.
Monitor cancellations and fill open appointment times.
Maintain accurate customer records in the POS/booking system.

Retail Sales

Recommend grooming products based on Member needs.
Maintain merchandising displays.
Process retail purchases accurately.
Help achieve monthly retail sales goals.

Shop Support

Keep the reception area clean, organized, and inviting.
Assist with opening and closing procedures.
Stock beverages and hospitality items.
Monitor inventory of front desk supplies.
Support barbers, stylists, and nail technicians as needed.

Administrative Duties

Process payments accurately.
Balance cash drawer and daily transactions.
Complete daily reports and administrative tasks.
Assist management with special projects and events.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
1–3 years of customer service, hospitality, retail, or front desk experience.
Sales experience preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Comfortable using computers, scheduling software, and POS systems.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Ability to remain calm and positive in a fast-paced environment.
