Full Job Description

Location: Remote (US-based preferred) Type: Part-time, independent contractor (1099) Hours: Approximately 10-15 hours/week, flexible schedule Rate: $28–40/hour, commensurate with experience

About the Role

Kiptum Consulting, LLC, was founded in 2023 by Mike Smith to provide strategic fundraising and database consulting to independent schools, helping advancement teams optimize their systems and operations. We're looking for a detail-oriented Data Specialist to support our growing client base on a part-time, contract basis. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves clean data, enjoys behind-the-scenes technical work, and wants flexible, remote hours supporting mission-driven schools.

It is our hope that this role will eventually become full-time and salaried as we grow our business and ideally we want to find someone who wants to be part of our team. However, are open to candidates who may be building a freelance/consulting practice, a semi-retired advancement professional, or someone seeking flexible part-time work that fits around other commitments.

What You'll Do

Clean, standardize, and de-duplicate constituent and gift records in Raiser's Edge / Raiser's Edge NXT
Prepare and format data files for bulk import (imports, global changes, batch uploads)
Review data for accuracy, consistency, and completeness prior to upload
Identify and flag data integrity issues (duplicate records, missing fields, inconsistent coding)
Support ad hoc data projects tied to client onboarding, database audits, and system cleanups
Work closely with Mike to understand each client's database structure and specific data standards
Maintain strict confidentiality of donor and school data across multiple client accounts

What We're Looking For

Required:

Hands-on experience with Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge and/or Raiser's Edge NXT (data entry, import module, queries/exports)
Strong Excel skills (formulas for matching, merging, and reshaping data sets, creating pivot tables, other data cleanup formulas)
High attention to detail while being comfortable in upholding strict confidentiality and data security policies while working with sensitive donor data
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate proactively about progress or issues
Reliable internet access and availability during agreed-upon hours

Nice to Have:

Experience with other CRM/donor database platforms (DonorPerfect, Bloomerang, Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, Little Green Light)
Familiarity with Import-o-Matic or similar Raiser's Edge add-ons
Background working with independent schools or education-sector nonprofits
Blackbaud certification(s) (Raiser's Edge Fundamentals or Professional)
Experience with data enrichment/append tools (NCOA, deceased record screening, etc.)
