Full Job Description

Controls Engineer / Senior Controls Engineer
Location: Opportunities around Hickory, NC including areas near Charlotte, Statesville, Morganton, and Lenoir
Contract or permanent considered
$65-85ph

This is a hands on controls role supporting a major manufacturing site where new production lines are being installed.

This is the type of role where you are on the plant floor, working directly with equipment, troubleshooting issues in real time, and keeping projects moving.

The initial engagement is expected to run for around 12 months.

You will be working through a well-established systems integrator with a strong presence across process and discrete industries. They are known for being easy to work with, technically credible, and able to move quickly when projects demand it.

What you will be doing

PLC programming, troubleshooting, and modifications using Rockwell ControlLogix
Supporting installation and commissioning of new production lines
Working with drives and motion systems including PowerFlex, Yaskawa, and servo applications
Diagnosing faults and resolving issues on live manufacturing equipment
Supporting SCADA systems (iFix experience helpful but not essential)
Working closely with plant teams to keep projects on track

This is a very PLC driven environment. You need to be comfortable getting into code, understanding how systems are built, and fixing problems without needing direction.

What you will need

5+ years of controls or automation experience
Strong Rockwell PLC experience, ideally ControlLogix
Background in discrete manufacturing environments
Experience with drives and motion systems
Confident troubleshooting on running production systems
Ability to work onsite full-time for the duration of the project

Nice to have

iFix or other SCADA experience
AutoCAD or electrical design exposure
