Full Job Description

Overview
Join a dynamic non-profit organization as a Non-Profit Comptroller, where you will lead the financial management and accounting functions to support our mission-driven initiatives. This vital role offers the opportunity to oversee complex financial operations, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and provide strategic financial insights that drive organizational success. As a key member of our leadership team, you will champion transparency, accuracy, and accountability in all financial activities, empowering us to maximize our impact in the communities we serve.

Responsibilities

Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable and receivable, and bank reconciliations using advanced accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory requirements relevant to non-profit and governmental accounting.
Manage financial reporting processes by preparing accurate financial statements, budget reports, and regulatory filings that reflect the organization’s financial health.
Conduct detailed balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis to maintain precise financial records and identify discrepancies promptly.
Lead cash management activities including forecasting cash flow needs and optimizing liquidity for operational efficiency.
Supervise payroll processing while ensuring adherence to applicable tax laws and regulations.
Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure integrity in financial data handling.
Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation related to financial concepts like debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and general ledger reconciliation.
Support strategic planning through financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and providing insights on financial concepts that influence organizational decisions.

Requirements

Proven experience in non-profit accounting with a strong understanding of governmental accounting standards and public sector financial management.
Demonstrated expertise in working with IFRS, GAAP, SOX compliance, and regulatory reporting requirements specific to non-profit organizations.
Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms; experience with financial software integration is a plus.
Solid knowledge of technical accounting principles including cash management, account reconciliation, account analysis, payroll processing, and general ledger management.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately and communicate findings clearly through written reports.
Excellent understanding of budgeting processes and financial forecasting techniques to support organizational growth strategies.
Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Relevant certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) are preferred but not mandatory. Embark on a rewarding journey where your expertise will directly contribute to advancing meaningful causes through meticulous financial stewardship!
