Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Senior Estimator is responsible for driving business growth by securing new projects and maintaining key client relationships for a leading construction manufacturer. This role requires both exceptional interpersonal skills and a deep knowledge of wire mesh products and manufacturing processes. This individual leads the entire bidding process, from identifying bidding opportunities, submitting bids and following up to confirm orders.

Key Responsibilities

Preconstruction and Proposal Development

Identify and pursue new business opportunities using bidding tools
Maintain continuous communication with general contractors, architects, engineers and others to find new business opportunities

Bid management

Lead the identification, tracking and management of bidding opportunities
Analyze architectural drawings, specifications, and project documents to understand the project requirements, potential risks, and opportunities.
Conduct detailed takeoffs for wire mesh / security mesh partitions
Prepare and deliver comprehensive, accurate, and competitive bids
Manage and follow up on bids and where our numbers fall
Analyze trends in bid results and adjust bid strategy
Maintain an understanding of market trends, competitor pricing, and industry-related techniques to keep estimating processes current

Qualifications and Skills

Experience and education

Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in estimating in construction or manufacturing, with specific experience in relevant materials
Proven track record of successful estimating in a commercial, industrial, or multi-family construction environment
A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field is often preferred

Estimating software: Proficiency with standard estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff).

Product knowledge: In-depth knowledge of building materials, construction methods, and manufacturing processes relevant to the company's products. Data center experience is a major plus

Technical skills: High proficiency with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook

Communication and interpersonal skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with a diverse range of clients and stakeholders

Negotiation skills: Proven ability to negotiate contracts and resolve conflicts effectively

Detail-oriented: Exceptional attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of all bids and proposals

Time management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while working under tight deadlines
