Full Job Description

Title: Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment

Reports to: YWCP Principal

Reporting to position: Instructional Coach(es)

Education/Experience: (required)

Completion of an education program leading to New York State Certification in School Building/District Administration
Appropriate New York State Administrative Certification (building and/or district level)
Comprehensive understanding of and work with New York State learning standards.

Experience: (preferred)

10+ years of classroom experience
Prior instructional leadership experience
Experience with DEI, CR-SE Framework, and Social Justice standards

Basic Function: Young Women’s College Prep (YWCP) is a Monroe County charter school designed to serve 7th through 12th grade girls in the Rochester area. The Director of CIA is responsible for working with the Principal and all teachers to foster achievement of all students in the school, including the design and delivery of curriculum and related professional development, modeling and observing classroom instruction and providing feedback to teachers, parents, and students. The Director of CIA reports to and is evaluated by the principal of the school.

Essential Duties: Within the limits of YWCP policies, procedures, and program is responsible for the duties set forth below:

Development, articulation and implementation of a vision for YWCP that is supported by the needs areas that are highlighted in the school and student data
Development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum and instructional strategies to improve academic literacy, overall achievement in core content areas, problem solving skills, and use of up-to-date technology for all students in the school
Demonstration of the ability to use instructional research and strategies with teacher and proved coaching to endure their successful implementation
Demonstrate the ability to support teachers in the development, selection, and use of curriculum documents, i.e. curriculum maps, unit plans, lesson plans, scope and sequence charts and vertical alignment designs and ensure alignment of such to state standards
Remain update on shifts in instructional pedagogy and best practices
Utilize data to inform instructional practices and initiatives and to support the creation and delivery of professional learning for teachers
Rigorously evaluate the effectiveness of instructional practices and initiatives and related professional learning focusing ultimately on its impact on student achievement
Provide recommendations of instructional materials, supplies, equipment, and visual aids designed to meet student educational needs and NYS standards
Coordinate curriculum committees and advisory boards to relate curriculum materials to specific subject area and student needs, and to maintain continuity of instruction through the school
Work with all staff to ensure student work and gradebook are updated and maintained regularly
Assessment of current school culture and the ability to capitalize on the diversity of the school community to implement and improve school programs and promote positive culture
Advocate for policies and programs that promote equitable learning opportunities for a diverse population
Oversee the creation, collection, maintenance, security and/or distribution of all progress reports, report cards, student cumulative files, and any other student-related records
Manage all NYS assessment test ordering, administration, scoring, and reporting
Supervise the teacher substitute requests and the acquisition of teacher substitutes on a daily basis
Other duties as assigned
