Full Job Description

Nokomis is a high growth technology company that is offering an excellent opportunity to a career-oriented individual. Nokomis is actively engaged in various stages of technology development from initial concept feasibility and reduction to practice all the way through advanced engineering and manufacturing of products to meet customer requirements by integrating novel technology solutions into the defense industry.

We’re looking for an organized and driven Staff Accountant to join our growing team. The Staff Accountant position will work closely with our other accountants and operations personnel and handle day-to-day accounting responsibilities. We’re an energetic company and are looking for a passionate individual to join Nokomis and revitalize our accounting department and bring more organization to our day-to-day financials.

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting with the accounts payable, purchasing, customer invoicing, and developing and maintaining general ledger accounts and reconciliations. This position will also assist with process processing payroll transactions for approval as well as assist with audit requirements as requested. This position will play a key role in maintaining internal controls.

This is a full-time, on-site salaried position at our newest Class A office building in Southpointe (adjacent to the Southpointe Golf Club) in Canonsburg, PA. Please be aware that, due to our work with government contracts, all Nokomis employees must be US citizens.

PRIMARY DUTIES

· ·Perform day-to-day accounting operations to ensure all transactions are recorded in compliance with accounting policies and procedures

· Assist Senior Accountant with managing and safeguarding company assets and ensure that internal controls are in place

· Assist Senior Accountant with preparation of financial statements and submit them to management in accordance with established timeframes

· Supports Federal Contracts and interactions with DCAA including assisting with audit requests

· Assist with preparation, presentation, interpretation, and analyzing financial statements

· Work with Senior Accountant and Program Managers to produce and maintain accurate project cost reports.

· Assist with preparation of customer invoicing

· Manage and process accounts payable, payroll functions

· Manage purchasing (to include but not be limited to, Purchase Requests, Purchase Orders, and Quotes for Purchasing Decisions)

· Monitor office expenses and assist with office expense purchasing

· Manage entry of vendor invoices and bills, respond to vendor inquiries concerning outstanding balances

· Assist with preparing and processing Journal Entries

· Assist with account reconciliations, monthly, annually

· Support other company management functions including but not limited to facility maintenance, human resources coordination, and fixed asset management

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

· Accounting B.S. Degree is required

· Minimum 4 years of experience in accounting or related field

· Familiarity with DCAA and Government contracting desired but not required

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Good written and oral communication skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a team

· Demonstrate strong analytical and effective problem-solving skills

· Must be able to use all Microsoft Office programs with emphasis on Excel

· Must have experience with Accounting software applications (QuickBooks experience a plus)

· Direct experience in the Military or other Government agencies desired but not required

· Ability to pass background check and drug screen to company s specifications
