Position tests product batches and will make adjustments, as necessary, to ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards. Tests incoming raw materials and maintains Certificates of Analysis (COA) from suppliers.
Essential Functions

Follows and complies with all safety and work rules, and regulations.

Completes EHS and other training, as assigned.

Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.

Performs standard tests on assigned production batches and incoming raw materials as needed to ensure the products and materials meet Avient’s and customer’s specifications.

Acts as a technical resource to the production team, addressing issues with production batches.

Recommends and develops adjustments to batches to meet product specifications.

Records test results in SAP database and maintains reference files.

Completes and maintains all required relevant documents.

Ensures all gauges and test equipment are verified and within calibration.

May participate in investigations of complaints and create corrective actions as needed.

Completes and sends documentation to customers (i.e. COA)

Physical Demands
The typical work week is Monday through Friday with occasional overtime. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl; use hands to finger, handle and/or feel objects, tools, and/or controls; talk and/or hear. Occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally handle up to 250 pounds. Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses, safety shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate except for high noise areas. Proper personal safety equipment must be used while performing the duties of this job. All needed safety equipment is determined by plant safety guidelines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to hot or cold temperatures, wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, risk of electric shock, vibration, non-hazardous chemical agents, and outside weather conditions. Employees are regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and/or airborne particles.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent, required
-
1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, required
-
1+ years of experience in a laboratory/quality assurance environment, required
-
Previous quality assurance testing experience, strongly preferred
-
Previous experience with testing of viscosity and color matching preferred but not required.

Previous experience using SAP, preferred
Other Qualifications

Demonstrated success using problem solving techniques

Acute vision and color perception – must be able to pass color matching and vision test

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation, and procedure manuals
Must have mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Must have the ability to use conversions of fractions and decimals. Must have the ability to work with different units for weight, volume, density, distance, etc.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) with strong data entry skills.
