Metrology Manager - minimum 5 years of relevant experience

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Metrology Manager to lead our measurement systems and ensure the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and quality across our manufacturing operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee calibration processes, maintain measurement integrity, and implement robust quality systems aligned with industry regulations. Your expertise will drive continuous improvement initiatives, support regulatory audits, and uphold our commitment to excellence in product quality. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive leader passionate about precision measurement and quality assurance to make a significant impact within a thriving organization.

The calibration department oversee a wide range of devices - from simple standard gages to very complex systems used in our proprietary carbon disks manufacturing equipment.

Duties

Lead and manage the Metrology Technician team, ensuring efficient use of time, resources, and full compliance with internal and external standards.
Serve as the primary process owner for all calibration and metrology standards, overseeing adherence to corporate and site requirements.
Collect, analyze, and report KPI data related to calibration performance, readiness, and compliance.
Represent the metrology function during internal, customer, and regulatory audits, demonstrating conformity to all applicable standards.
Act as the liaison between site manufacturing teams and corporate metrology leadership, ensuring alignment with company directives.
Oversee calibration of all instruments, ensuring traceability to recognized standards (e.g., NIST) and timely re‑calibration before expiration.
Manage critical and selected HSE instruments, coordinating closely with Maintenance and HSE teams to ensure reliability and availability.
Ensure timely creation of purchase orders and requisitions to prevent calibration lapses for in‑use instruments.
Oversee the anomaly (out‑of‑tolerance/damaged instrument) process, ensuring rapid resolution, proper documentation, and minimal impact on production; analyze recurring issues and drive corrective action plans.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels of spare instruments and monitor equipment for obsolescence, recommending new technologies that improve accuracy, precision, and calibration reliability.
Ensure all metrology activities are performed in accordance with industrial safety standards and site safety expectations.
Perform additional duties as required to support site manufacturing and quality objectives.

Experience/Education/Certification Required

Extensive experience supporting metrology and calibration needs in a manufacturing environment, including hands‑on work with process instrumentation.
Strong technical knowledge of measurement devices and calibration methods (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMMS tools, flow/pressure/temperature/humidity/conductivity instruments).
Ability to interpret technical standards, engineering drawings, and specifications for process and dimensional measurement devices.
Professional certification in calibration or metrology preferred (e.g., 3rd‑party accredited programs).
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent experience preferred; must obtain Green Belt within three years of hire.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline preferred (engineering, applied sciences, or related field)
