SENIOR DEFENSE PROGRAM MANAGER

Location: Chantilly, VA or Greater Boston, MA Area
Compensation: $180,000 - $195,000
Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Preferred
U.S. Citizenship Required

We are conducting a confidential search for a Senior Program Manager to lead the execution of complex defense programs supporting U.S. military customers.

This is not a PMO, software delivery, or IT program management role.

We are specifically seeking leaders who have owned the execution, recovery, delivery, and customer management of mission-critical defense, aerospace, naval, weapons, combat systems, radar, sensor, undersea warfare, shipbuilding, or military hardware programs.

The ideal candidate has successfully led programs involving engineering, manufacturing, integration, test, sustainment, logistics, or operational deployment and has experience managing demanding government customers, executive stakeholders, and high-visibility defense programs.

Responsibilities

Lead execution of complex defense programs from contract award through delivery
Serve as primary customer interface for government and military stakeholders
Own program schedule, budget, risk management, execution strategy, and overall program performance
Lead cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, operations, logistics, supply chain, quality, and business teams
Develop and execute recovery plans for challenged programs
Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and strategic partners
Present program performance, risks, and mitigation strategies to executive leadership and customers
Support business growth, customer engagement, and proposal activities

Required Qualifications

10+ years of defense program management experience
Experience leading large-scale defense or aerospace programs
Experience managing program cost, schedule, risk, and performance
Experience briefing senior government and executive stakeholders
Experience working directly with military customers and government program offices
Demonstrated success recovering or stabilizing challenged programs
Strong leadership through influence across engineering and operations organizations

Highly Desired

Navy customer experience
Defense manufacturing experience
Earned Value Management (EVM)
Program turnaround experience
Active security clearance

This opportunity is best suited for candidates who have led real-world defense program execution efforts involving hardware delivery, manufacturing, integration, test, sustainment, logistics, and operational readiness.
