Full Job Description

Position Summary:

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all volunteer program activities in the organization.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

1. Develop, execute and maintain volunteer training and orientation program, as well as recruitment events.

2. Initiate, recruit, educate, and select volunteers from at least three (3) recruitment events a year.

3. Establish the need for volunteer services with patients and families/caregivers and entire hospice team.

4. Supervise and evaluate volunteers in a timely and appropriate manner.

5. Maintain database of volunteer information and skills.

6. Place volunteers in roles based on their qualifications and aligned with their interests.

7. Maintain accurate records: schedules, assignments, volunteer hours; monthly statistics.

8. Maintains current volunteer personnel files.

9. Conduct performance reviews.

10. Coordinate support/education meetings.

11. Attend interdisciplinary group meetings.

12. Provide information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.

13. Participate as needed in the budget preparation for program development.

14. Actively participate in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities.

15. Accept and perform other related duties and responsibilities.

Education Requirements:

College degree in human services, marketing, or human resources preferred.

Experience Requirements:

Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a health care setting.
Hospice and/or volunteer experience preferred.
Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services.
Ability to organize and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patient and organizational needs.
Ability to manage a group of individuals providing volunteer time.
Understands hospice philosophy.
