Full Job Description

Are you skilled at uncovering insights that lead to smart, actionable audience strategies? Do you know how to turn research and observation into clear messaging frameworks that guide creative work? Are you a flexible, thoughtful contributor who thrives in a collaborative remote team? If so, Bellweather Agency wants to hear from you.

We are seeking a freelance strategist with at least three years of experience in audience and creative strategy, either in an agency or in-house setting. This freelance role will support strategic work across client engagements, collaborating closely with our account, creative, and digital teams to develop clear audience insights, shape messaging frameworks, and bring bold, resonant ideas to life.

This is a remote freelance position with flexible hours, though candidates in the Eastern or Central Time Zones are preferred for collaboration. Freelancers work under the guidance of our Chief Strategy Officer and may be brought in across a range of projects depending on fit and availability.

Pay will be $75-$100 per hour based on experience.

Your Responsibilities

Strategy Development

Translate client goals and audience research into creative strategies for campaigns, websites, or branding projects.
Support development of positioning statements, messaging frameworks, user journeys, and creative briefs.

Research & Insight Gathering

Conduct or support primary research efforts (interviews, surveys, workshops) and desk research (competitive scans, cultural audits).
Synthesize research findings into clear insights and opportunities.

Client & Team Collaboration

Participate in client-facing meetings and presentations as needed.
Participate in internal brainstorms, working sessions, and strategy reviews.

Writing & Presentation

Write audience insights, strategy narratives, and presentation decks in clear and compelling language.
Contribute to creative briefs, moodboards, and strategic storytelling that inspire teams and clients alike.

Your Qualifications

At least 3 years of experience in creative strategy, preferably in an agency or related consultancy setting.
A sharp strategic mind and creative sensibility, with a portfolio of projects demonstrating your contributions.
Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
Strong writing and presentation skills—able to clearly articulate ideas to both internal teams and clients.
Experience with nonprofits, public sector, healthcare, or tourism clients is a plus.
