Full Job Description

PrintMailPro is seeking an experienced Prepress Operator to join our growing production team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial offset printing prepress, including CTP plate making, contract color proofing, and digital file preparation. This position is responsible for preparing customer artwork for offset, digital, and wide-format production while ensuring the highest standards of quality, color accuracy, and production efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities

Prepare, inspect, and optimize customer artwork for offset, digital, and wide-format print production.
Preflight incoming files for resolution, fonts, bleeds, trim, color space, transparency, and print specifications.
Create press-ready PDFs and production files using industry best practices.
Perform imposition, trapping, proofing, and file corrections.
Produce and verify accurate contract color proofs for customer approval.
Operate and maintain Computer-to-Plate (CTP) plate making equipment.
Produce high-quality offset printing plates according to production schedules.
Manage color using ICC profiles and maintain color consistency across multiple printing devices.
Collaborate with Customer Service, Graphic Designers, Production Managers, and Press Operators to ensure efficient workflow and on-time delivery.
Troubleshoot artwork and production file issues while providing effective solutions.
Maintain organized job files and workflow documentation.
Follow quality control procedures to minimize production errors and waste.
Perform routine maintenance on prepress equipment and software.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of commercial offset prepress experience.
Experience operating Computer-to-Plate (CTP) plate making equipment is required.
Experience producing and calibrating contract color proofs is required.
High school diploma or GED required.
Advanced proficiency with:
Adobe InDesign
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Acrobat Professional
Strong understanding of:
Offset printing processes
Digital printing workflows
Wide-format printing
Color management
CMYK and Pantone color matching
Typography
Resolution requirements
Bleeds, trim, and safe areas
PDF/X standards
Experience with:
Preflight
Imposition
Trapping
Proofing
RIP workflows
Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting production deadlines.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative production team.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

Kodak Prinergy, Agfa Apogee, Heidelberg Prinect, or similar prepress workflow systems
EFI Fiery or ONYX RIP software
Variable Data Printing (VDP)
Mailing and postal production
Large-format graphics production
Packaging production
Digital press workflows (Canon, Ricoh, Xerox, Konica Minolta, etc.)
