Senior Accountant — Cary Skin Center
Work Location: 200 Wellesley Trade Lane, Cary, NC 27519
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; Wednesday and Friday: 8:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
Travel: No travel required
Compensation: Attractive compensation package

Cary Skin Center is seeking an experienced, analytical, highly organized, and professionally mature Senior Accountant to join our leadership and administrative team. Must be able to work independently.

Founded more than 27 years ago, Cary Skin Center is one of the largest skin cancer treatment centers in North Carolina and is recognized as the only accredited Mohs Micrographic Surgery Center of Excellence in the state. Our organization has earned a strong reputation for clinical excellence, patient-centered care, financial stability, and organizational integrity.

Cary Skin Center operates three locations and continues to grow as a respected physician-led healthcare organization. This position is based entirely at our Cary office and does not require travel.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys responsibility, accuracy, confidentiality, and meaningful work in a highly respected medical practice.

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the accounting and financial operations of the Cary Skin Center enterprise. This position works closely with the Administrator, physicians, consulting CPA, and Board of Directors to ensure timely, accurate, and well-organized financial information.

The selected candidate will have strong accounting experience, excellent attention to detail, the ability to manage deadlines, and the professionalism required to handle confidential financial, payroll, physician compensation, and employee information. The successful candidate will be able to analyze accounting information and provide management insight.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Executing day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger activity, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.

Overseeing accounts payable and ensuring timely and accurate payment of vendors, physicians, contractors, and service providers.

Supporting accounts receivable accounting functions, including reconciliation of cash receipts and revenue reporting.

Processing and administering payroll for physicians and employees, including payroll taxes, benefit deductions, retirement contributions, and related compliance requirements.

Preparing monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for the organization’s multiple locations and related business operations.

Preparing financial reports in the established financial packet for the Board of Directors monthly for oversight review by the practice’s consulting CPA.

Preparing financial analyses related to cash flow, expenses, physician productivity, departmental performance, and organizational trends.

Preparing budgets, forecasting, financial planning, capital expenditures, and special projects.

Maintaining appropriate accounting procedures, internal controls, and confidentiality standards.

Supporting the Administrator, President, physicians, and Board of Directors with financial information needed for sound business decision-making.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.

CPA designation preferred but not required.

Minimum of five years of progressively responsible accounting experience preferred.

Healthcare, medical practice, or physician practice financial management experience strongly preferred.

Hands on experience with payroll administration, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, and multi-location accounting preferred.

Strong knowledge of cash basis accounting, internal controls, budgeting, financial statement preparation, and payroll regulations.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial/accounting systems, Quickbooks preferred.

Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and time-management skills.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with executive leadership, physicians, consultants, and staff.

High degree of accuracy, discretion, professionalism, and judgment.
