Director of Business Operations

Confidential Search

A growing national business services company is seeking an experienced Director of Business Operations to lead customer-facing operations, organizational performance, and business execution across a nationwide managed services platform.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this senior leadership role works closely with sales, marketing, finance, customer service, technology, and supply chain to deliver exceptional customer experiences, operational excellence, and profitable growth.

This role is designed for a proven business leader who wants the opportunity to help shape the future direction of a growing company.

This is a hands-on leadership position in a professional office environment—not a warehouse, plant, transportation dispatch, or distribution center management role. We are seeking a business leader who understands how to align people, processes, technology, and customer service to deliver outstanding results.

Key Responsibilities

Lead customer-facing operations supporting national accounts and key customer relationships.
Provide leadership and direction to operational teams, supervisors, and department leaders.
Partner with sales, marketing, customer service, finance, technology, and supply chain to ensure exceptional service delivery and operational execution.
Lead operational teams during both routine business operations and high-priority customer events requiring rapid coordination, sound judgment, and decisive leadership.
Evaluate operational costs, pricing strategies, vendor performance, and service-delivery economics to support competitive and profitable business decisions.
Utilize operational reporting, customer data, and business intelligence to improve customer service, operational performance, and business results.
Support business development by ensuring operational capabilities align with customer expectations and contractual commitments.
Present operational strategies, business reviews, and customer solutions to customers, senior executives, and key stakeholders.
Foster a culture of accountability, responsiveness, innovation, continuous improvement, and customer-focused execution.

Qualifications

Progressive leadership experience supporting customer-facing operations within business-to-business service organizations.
Experience serving customers in industries such as energy, utilities, industrial services, construction, transportation, manufacturing, chemicals, industrial gases, fleet services, managed services, business process outsourcing, or similar environments where dependable service, responsiveness, and operational excellence are critical.
Strong business acumen with experience evaluating operational costs, pricing, profitability, and service-delivery performance.
Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and collaborating effectively with sales, marketing, finance, customer service, technology, supply chain, and executive leadership.
Strong understanding of how customers utilize operational reporting, business intelligence, and technology-enabled solutions to improve operational performance and decision-making.
Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
Comfortable interacting with frontline employees, customers, senior executives, and key business partners with equal confidence and professionalism.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate is equally comfortable in a conference room with CEOs, COOs, and senior customer leadership as they are leading a cross-functional team through a critical operational event.

Work Environment

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and responsibilities assumed.
