About the Company
We've built our business over decades on quality and a direct relationship with the people who use our products. We're a growing manufacturer with facilities in multiple U.S. states, and we're adding a hands-on leader to run our San Antonio, TX distribution operation.
About the Role
This is a high-visibility opportunity for an experienced distribution or warehouse leader to take full ownership of daily operations at our San Antonio facility. As Distribution Center Manager, you will lead every function under our roof: receiving, storage, inventory control, shipping, safety, quality, facility management, hiring, and team leadership, customer service, and our original equipment (OE) distribution process.
This facility supports several shipping channels, each with its own accuracy and compliance requirements: shipping orders straight to individual customers, fulfilling business and contract shipments with strict electronic data interchange (EDI) and on-time performance standards, and meeting the requirements of major online marketplace fulfillment. Success in this role depends on relentless attention to detail across every channel — shipment accuracy, on-time performance, and compliance errors carry real cost and customer risk.
You'll partner closely with leadership on budget, staffing, and continuous improvement, while owning the day-to-day results, culture, and safety performance of the San Antonio site. This role is a strong fit for someone who wants real operational ownership and autonomy, and who thrives on precision in a multi-channel distribution environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day operations for our distribution facility, with full accountability for safety, results, and team performance.
- Lead, select, train, and direct warehouse teams responsible for receiving, storage, inventory control, and domestic and international shipping.
- Ensure shipment accuracy and on-time performance across all distribution channels, including individual customer orders, business-to-business/contract shipments, and major online marketplace fulfillment — each governed by its own strict compliance and vendor performance standards.
- Partner with our EDI and account operations staff to resolve shipment discrepancies, prevent compliance-related chargebacks, and maintain accurate, timely data across order and shipping systems.
- Develop, justify, and manage manpower plans and expense budgets for all warehouse and distribution activities at the site.
- Align department objectives with company goals, communicate performance expectations clearly, and hold the team accountable for delivering on time — bringing a high sense of urgency and responsiveness to changing priorities.
- Drive improvement initiatives focused on service levels, cost control, shipping accuracy, productivity, and workplace safety.
- Evaluate existing processes and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Maintain the facility in a safe, secure, organized, and efficient manner to protect employees, inventory, and equipment; ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable health and safety regulations.
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend material handling and storage equipment to improve safety and productivity.
- Conduct performance reviews and oversee performance management for the department.
- Lead regular team communication meetings covering safety, housekeeping, and company updates; conduct onboarding for new, transferred, and temporary employees.
- Maintain adherence to our quality management system requirements, standards, and guidelines, including applicable third-party quality certifications required by our customers.
- Prioritize customer and root-cause analysis to improve our customer service and quality performance, providing the best experience for our customers across every channel we serve.
What You'll Need — Must-Have
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of warehouse or distribution experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing or supervising a team, ideally with ownership of a facility or shift.
- Experience with an ERP/inventory management system; strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with comfort managing budgets and headcount plans.
- Meticulous attention to detail — this facility's shipment accuracy directly affects customer scorecards and contract performance, so precision matters as much as pace.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and standards in a manufacturing or distribution environment, including exposure to third-party quality certifications.
- Comfort operating with real autonomy and strong judgment, with clear, proactive communication back to corporate leadership.
What You'll Need — Nice-to-Have
- Fluent in both English and Spanish.
- Experience working in a multi-channel distribution environment with strict accuracy and compliance requirements (e.g., business-to-business/contract shipping standards, major online marketplace vendor compliance).
