Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor Level II/Certified Addictions Counselor to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive addiction counseling and mental health support to individuals and their families, fostering recovery and resilience. Your expertise will help clients navigate complex challenges related to substance use, mental health, and co-occurring disorders, empowering them toward lasting change. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative environment committed to holistic patient care.

Duties

Conduct thorough intake assessments, including diagnostic evaluations using ICD-10 coding standards, to determine client needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
Deliver individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, behavioral therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
Facilitate crisis intervention and crisis management strategies to ensure client safety during acute episodes or mental health emergencies.
Coordinate with medical professionals to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, maintain accurate medical documentation, and update medical records efficiently.
Engage in case management activities including patient assessment, data collection for research purposes, and follow-up care planning.
Implement addiction medicine principles in treatment plans, emphasizing patient care, behavioral health integration, and recovery support services.
Utilize CPT coding for billing purposes and ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) for diagnostic documentation.

Requirements

Valid certification as a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor Level II/Certified Addictions Counselor with relevant state licensure or registration.
Proven experience in addiction counseling, clinical counseling, or behavioral health settings with home & community care experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), social work practices, and trauma-informed care including PTSD management.
Familiarity with hospital environments and experience providing patient assessment within medical settings is highly desirable.
Excellent skills in crisis intervention, crisis management, and behavior management techniques.
Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) along with proficiency in medical terminology and documentation standards.
Experience with group therapy facilitation, case management, intake procedures, and data collection for research or quality improvement projects.
