Position Summary
The Afterschool Program Assistant supports the implementation of the daily curriculum and activities, student engagement, and care of the facility, equipment, and supplies.
Position Title: Afterschool Program Assistant (Van Driver)
Reports to: Afterschool Program Director and Staff Parish Relations Committee
Type of Position: Part-time (5:30-7:30, 3-5 days per week, following the Macon County Schools calendar, plus August 20 & 21 for training)
Van Driver can also work as Program Assistant if all requirements are met
There are two adults in the van whenever students are present– one to drive, the other to manage students.
Major Responsibilities:
Completes regular safety inspection of the van.
Safe driving of students to their homes or local community stops.
Ensures students leave with designated adults.
Helps ensure the facility is safe and assists with clean-up and organizing , as needed.
Communicates effectively with students and staff, including student safety concerns.
Provides advance notice of needed absences.
Attends required program meetings and trainings.
Minimum Requirements:
CDL NOT required - there is orientation and face to face training for the van.
Good Driving Record.
Between 25-69 years old (insurance requirement)

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, climb, lift objects up to 30 pounds. Good vision (assisted) and hearing (assisted) and overall health as required for the North Carolina driver's license.
