Full Job Description

Summary of Position:

The Bilingual Forensic Interviewer is responsible for conducting unbiased, neutral, non-leading, culturally sensitive fact-finding forensic interviews with children who have experienced alleged abuse or maltreatment. The Bilingual Forensic Interviewer is responsible for conducting forensic interviews in both Spanish and English. This position participates in pre-staffing meetings with investigators, Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) staffings, trainings, and weekly case review. This position is full-time, requires availability for on-call/after-hours rotations, and involves high trauma/high stress work. This position reports to the Manager of Forensic Services.

Essential Job Functions:

· Conducts forensic interviews with children referred by law enforcement and/or child welfare.

· Remain up to date on current research in the field of child forensic interviewing.

· Pursue ongoing training and educational opportunities.

· Provide services to Spanish speaking children and families.

· Maintains records as necessary.

· Must be available for on-call/after-hours rotation.

· Participate in both English and Bilingual peer reviews with other forensic interviewers to observe the work of others and give/receive constructive criticism.

· Schedule interviews for law enforcement or DHS who have an open investigation.

· Maintains working knowledge of accreditation standards of National Children’s Alliance, Tulsa County MDT Protocol, and applicable laws as needed.

· Provide fact and expert testimony in juvenile, criminal, and federal court as needed.

· Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to interact with children of all ages and developmental levels.

· Must be able to work under high levels of stress or secondary trauma exposure.

· Must be organized and can multitask.

· Ability to testify regarding forensic interviewing and expert witness material in court.

· Must be able to collaborate and problem solve within a multidisciplinary team.

· Ability to react and adapt to changing situations appropriately.

· Ability to interact with a variety of families and professionals.

Knowledge and education requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in the field of Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice or related field, required. Master’s degree preferred.

· Must complete a NCA approved Forensic Interview training program.

· Must complete Bilingual Forensic Interviewer training

· Remain up to date on research in the field of forensic interviewing.

· Working knowledge of law enforcement and child welfare systems.

· Participate in peer review for forensic interviewing.

· Participate in Bilingual Peer Review.

· Must be proficient in computer applications.

· Must be able to pass a nationwide background check.

Working Conditions

The majority of work will be performed in a climate-controlled office setting with little exposure to excessive noise or dust. This position involves exposure to traumatic subject matter and high-stress environments.
