Full Job Description

Position Summary

Jaftex is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Assistant to the Lead Designers. This role is designed to support the lead design team in keeping production flow, art direction, mill communication, licensing tasks, samples, project tracking, and internal follow-ups moving efficiently.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys being hands-on, can manage many moving pieces at once, communicates clearly and professionally, and is eager to learn the fabric, textile, quilting, and crafting industries. This person should be comfortable helping organize information, track tasks, follow up on deadlines, gather research, and turn meeting notes or team direction into clear next steps.

Key Responsibilities

Help organize, communicate, and track, and follow up on art direction, mill progression, licensor feedback, designer communication, and internal creative tasks.
Draft clear, professional emails and correspondence based on notes, comments, and direction from members of the lead design team.
Assist with color approvals and related production/design coordination. Prior experience with strike-offs is not required; willingness to learn is essential.
Gather information, data, lists, and research needed to answer specific creative, licensing, production, or market-related questions.
Create agendas, outlines, bullet points, and presentation notes for meetings, customer conversations, filming, and internal discussions.
Organize and maintain fabric samples, design materials, reference materials, and project files.
Assist with preparation for customer presentations, creative meetings, filming, special projects, and occasional trade shows.
Provide additional administrative, creative, and production support to the lead design team as needed.

Qualifications

Art background strongly preferred.
Background or demonstrated interest in art, design, textile design, fine arts, graphic design, fashion design, illustration, or a related creative field is preferred.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage many details at once.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to turn team notes and direction into clear, professional correspondence.
Resourceful research skills and the ability to gather useful information independently.
Comfortable using Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Experience with Asana or another project/work management platform is helpful.
Previous experience in an office, administrative, creative assistant, production assistant, design assistant, or project coordination role is preferred.
Interest or experience in textiles, quilting, crafting, fashion, design, licensing, product development, or creative industries.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
