OUR MISSION
We're a family-owned, U.S.-based garden seed company on a mission to help more people grow their own food and build greater self-reliance.
Design plays a critical role in that mission. Our packaging and digital assets are often a customer's first interaction with our brand, so clarity, consistency, quality, and accuracy matter.
We're looking for someone seeking a long-term opportunity. We invest heavily in training and want to build lasting relationships with team members who take pride in growing alongside our company.
WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS
We're hiring a Graphic Designer to support our growing packaging and eCommerce design workload.
This role combines two important responsibilities.
First and foremost, you'll produce accurate, production-ready packaging files that meet print specifications and maintain our brand standards. Accuracy matters.
Second, you'll create compelling eCommerce graphics that help customers understand our products and increase conversion across Amazon, Walmart, Shopify, and other digital channels.
We're looking for someone who enjoys both precision and creativity and consistently delivers high-quality work while contributing ideas that improve how our products are presented and sold.
This role begins as a contract position with the intent to transition into a long-term employee role based on performance, ownership, and overall fit.
Compensation: $25 to $30 per hour depending on experience.
WORK SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY
This is a remote position with a variable workload that typically ranges from 20 to 35 hours per week, depending on business needs and seasonal demand. During peak periods, hours may increase to 40 hours per week.
Team members are expected to maintain a consistent work schedule and be available beginning at our core business hours of 8:30 a.m. Mountain Time. Most collaboration, meetings, feedback, and project communication take place during the business day, so dependable availability during these hours is essential.
While occasional schedule flexibility is expected, we're looking for someone who can reliably work alongside the team during normal business hours rather than primarily evenings or weekends. This role is best suited for someone seeking a long-term partnership who values consistent communication, collaboration, and follow-through.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
You'll be successful in this role if you:
- Deliver production-ready packaging files with minimal revisions.
- Complete assigned work accurately and on time.
- Maintain organized and accessible design files and assets.
- Create high-converting eCommerce graphics that improve customer engagement.
- Bring thoughtful ideas that strengthen product listings while staying within brand standards.
- Apply feedback quickly while maintaining consistency.
- Keep projects moving through proactive communication and dependable follow-through.
- Work independently without requiring constant oversight.
- Continuously improve our design systems, templates, and workflows to make future work faster and better.
If you enjoy being the person others trust to "get it right the first time" while continuously making the work better, you'll likely thrive here.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Modify and prepare existing packaging files for professional print production.
- Create and optimize digital assets for Amazon, Walmart, Shopify, and other eCommerce platforms.
- Design gallery images, infographics, comparison charts, A+ content, and marketing visuals that increase customer confidence and conversion.
- Recommend and test improvements to product listings and visual storytelling based on customer behavior, data, and best practices.
- Maintain and organize a large library of design files, templates, and brand assets.
- Collaborate closely with marketing and leadership while contributing ideas, not simply executing tasks.
- Implement feedback accurately while maintaining design consistency.
- Prepare files that are production-ready and aligned with brand standards.
DESIGN TOOLS & AI EXPECTATIONS
We're excited about designers who embrace modern technology.
You should be comfortable using AI-assisted design tools to improve speed, organization, brainstorming, and workflow efficiency.
However, AI is only a tool.
Strong typography, layout, color, visual hierarchy, branding, and production accuracy still depend on your design judgment. We expect our designers to use AI where it creates better results or improves efficiency, but never at the expense of quality, originality, or production accuracy.
We're looking for someone who:
- Stays current with modern design and AI workflows.
- Knows when AI improves quality and when it introduces risk.
- Uses AI to accelerate execution without sacrificing craftsmanship.
- Can create excellent work with or without AI assistance.
This is not a prompt-only design role. Strong design fundamentals and production experience remain essential.
WHO THIS ROLE IS FOR
You’re likely a strong fit if you:
- Have hands-on experience preparing print-ready packaging files
- Are highly proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Are detail-oriented, organized, and dependable
- Enjoy working within established systems and brand guidelines
- Take ownership of your work and follow through consistently
- Communicate clearly and ask questions early when direction is unclear
- Can maintain speed without sacrificing quality or accuracy
- Eager to learn our products, customers, and brand.
- Are able to work consistently during agreed-upon working hours
- Enjoy solving problems and finding better ways to do things.
Our values are not aspirational. They show up in how work gets done, how feedback is handled, and how standards are maintained every day.
IMPORTANT
This role involves a high volume of production-based design work with deadlines, revisions, and detailed file preparation. Success in this role requires exceptional organization, attention to detail, personal ownership, and the ability to work consistently within established systems.
WHO THIS ROLE IS NOT FOR
This role is probably not a good fit if you:
- Prefer highly conceptual branding or open-ended creative direction
- Get frustrated working within templates, systems, or established guidelines
- Need constant direction or supervision
- Struggle with production accuracy or deadlines
- Dislike detail-oriented production work
We value clarity, reliability, and consistency over flashy creative work.
NICE TO HAVES (NOT REQUIRED)
- Experience creating Amazon or Walmart listing assets
- Personal interest or experience in gardening.
- Familiarity with ClickUp or similar project management tools
- Basic video editing or videography skills
- Experience with creative testing platforms such as PickFu
- Experience using AI design tools such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, Firefly, or similar tools to improve creative workflows.
WHO WE ARE
We’re a U.S.-based, family-run seed company grounded in four core values:
- Quality in Everything
- Extreme Ownership
- Humility in All Things
- Constant Improvement
Our team is collaborative, supportive, and purpose-driven. We communicate clearly, work hard, and care deeply about doing things the right way. Around here, Extreme Ownership means taking responsibility for outcomes, communicating early when problems arise, and leaving things better than you found them.
