Accounting Specialist:

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, communicating with customers, solving problems, and contributing to a team-oriented environment.

This position is on site in Windom, MN. Please only apply if you are able to meet this very important requirement.

Position Summary

The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting functions of the company, with a primary focus on accounts receivable, billing, collections, and general bookkeeping. This role will also assist with accounts payable, reporting, payroll-related functions, and various administrative duties as needed.

The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate professionally with both customers and internal team members.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAccounts Receivable

Manage aspects of the accounts receivable process.
Generate and distribute customer invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
Monitor outstanding customer balances and follow up on past due accounts.
Communicate with customers regarding account status, payment schedules, and billing discrepancies.
Research and resolve invoice disputes and payment issues.
Apply customer payments and maintain accurate account records.
Reconcile customer accounts and maintain aging reports.

Accounts Payable

Assist with processing vendor invoices and maintaining accounts payable records.
Verify invoice accuracy and ensure proper approvals are obtained.
Respond to inquiries and assist in resolving payment-related issues.
Support monthly reconciliation of statements.

Accounting & Bookkeeping

Perform general bookkeeping and accounting support functions.
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
Assist with month-end closing activities and account reconciliations.
Enter and maintain accounting data in company software systems.

Payroll & Human Resources Support

Assist with payroll processing and payroll-related recordkeeping.
Help maintain employee records and documentation.
Provide support for employee benefit administration and HR-related tasks.
Answer basic employee questions regarding payroll and benefits.

Administrative Support

Maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems.
Assist with special projects and process improvements.
Support other departments with accounting-related requests.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required

High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality with financial and employee information.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred.

Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
Human resources experience.
Payroll processing experience.
Experience in transportation, logistics, or trucking industries a plus!.
