Freelance Greeting Card Designer/Illustrator (Humor-Focused) – RemoteAbout Designer Greetings

Designer Greetings is one of the nation's largest privately owned greeting card companies, creating innovative, trend-driven greeting cards that celebrate life's everyday moments and special occasions. We are seeking a creative and humorous freelance designer/illustrator to develop original greeting card concepts that connect with consumers through wit, personality, and engaging visual storytelling.

This is a remote, project-based freelance opportunity.

Position Summary

As a Freelance Greeting Card Designer/Illustrator, you will create original humor-driven greeting card concepts from idea to finished artwork. We're looking for someone who understands what makes people laugh, enjoys visual storytelling, and can translate everyday experiences into commercially successful greeting cards.

The ideal candidate is imaginative, collaborative, deadline-driven, and capable of producing artwork that appeals to a broad retail audience.

Responsibilities

Develop original humorous concepts for everyday, seasonal, and special occasion greeting cards.
Create engaging illustrations, typography, lettering, and graphic layouts that complement the written message.
Design artwork that reflects current consumer and retail trends while maintaining broad commercial appeal.
Prepare production-ready artwork in accordance with Designer Greetings' print specifications.
Collaborate with the Art Department to refine concepts and incorporate creative feedback.
Revise artwork as needed while maintaining project timelines and quality standards.
Manage multiple freelance assignments simultaneously and meet established deadlines.
Stay current with greeting card, illustration, typography, and consumer design trends.

Qualifications

Professional experience in illustration, greeting card design, graphic design, or a related creative field preferred.
Strong portfolio demonstrating humor, illustration, typography, character development, and commercial artwork.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. Experience with Adobe InDesign is a plus.
Strong understanding of composition, color, typography, and print production.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote creative team.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to accept creative direction and revise artwork as requested.

Portfolio Submission

Applicants should include:

Resume or creative biography.
Portfolio showcasing greeting cards, illustrations, humorous artwork, or similar commercial designs.
Brief description of artistic style and relevant experience.
Compensation expectations for freelance assignments.

Additional Information

Remote freelance opportunity.
Project assignments will vary based on business needs.
Compensation will be based on experience, portfolio quality, project scope, and complexity.
Flexible scheduling with agreed-upon project deadlines.

All artwork submitted for commissioned projects must be the applicant's original work and must not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others.

Upon acceptance and payment for commissioned work, all rights, title, and interest in the completed artwork shall become the property of Designer Greetings in accordance with the applicable Independent Contractor Agreement.
