Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Machine Shop Supervisor to lead our manufacturing operations with energy and precision. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily machining activities, ensure quality standards are met, and foster a safety-first environment. Your leadership will drive efficiency, optimize machining processes, and uphold the highest standards of craftsmanship. Duties

Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the machine shop team, including machinists and technicians.
Oversee CNC programming, setup, and operation on various machines such as CNC lathes and milling machines, ensuring accurate production.
Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical drawings to guide machining processes.
Maintain and calibrate precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to ensure dimensional accuracy.
Implement lean manufacturing practices to improve workflow efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols by maintaining a safe work environment and conducting regular safety audits.
Collaborate with engineering teams on tooling selection, fixture design, and process improvements
Manage inventory of tooling, hand tools, power tools, and machining supplies; coordinate with procurement as needed.
Train team members on machine operation, safety procedures, and quality standards to foster skill development.
Support maintenance schedules for CNC, Lathe, and Milling equipment such as Fanuc controllers.

Skills

Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages (e.g., G-code) and experience with CNC milling machines and CNC lathes.
Expertise in blueprint reading, GD&T principles, and mechanical drawing interpretation.
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for design review and process planning.
Skilled in using precision measurement instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
Ability to perform basic math calculations related to machining tolerances and measurements accurately.
Familiarity with safety standards related to machining equipment operation; certified forklift operation is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving skills with an eye for detail; capable of troubleshooting CNC issues efficiently.
