Full Job Description

School for Allied Health Professionals is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Medical Insurance and Coding Instructor to join our Allied Health faculty. The instructor will be responsible for delivering comprehensive education in medical billing, insurance processing, and coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS). This role plays a vital part in preparing students for certification exams and successful entry into the healthcare workforce.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong subject matter expertise, professional industry experience, and a commitment to student success in both classroom and clinical practice settings.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality instruction in medical billing, insurance, and coding through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises.
Teach and evaluate student competencies in ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, reimbursement methodologies, claims processing, and compliance guidelines.
Develop and update course syllabi, lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments in accordance with program requirements and accreditation standards.
Provide individualized academic advising, mentoring, and support to students to promote retention, progression, and completion.
Maintain accurate student records including attendance, grades, and evaluations in compliance with school policies.
Stay current with industry standards, coding updates, and regulatory changes (HIPAA, CMS guidelines, insurance regulations).
Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum reviews, professional development, and institutional activities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Current certification in Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or an equivalent nationally recognized coding credential (required).
Associate degree or higher in a healthcare-related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
A minimum of 2–3 years of recent professional experience in medical coding, billing, or health information management.
Comprehensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS coding systems, insurance claim processes, and medical terminology.
Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience (preferred but not required).
