Full Job Description

Employee shall provide comprehensive analytical, coordination, and reporting support to the Digital Freedom Division. Duties include managing multiple issue portfolios, preparing briefing materials, and supporting strategic planning and communications coordination across bureaus.

Duties and Responsibilities

● Support the Digital Freedom Division as a subject matter expert on particular digital freedom topics.

● Lead on an assigned portfolio(s) to monitor, analyze, and advise on digital freedom issues and their implications for U.S. geopolitical objectives, including issues such as Internet freedom, freedom of expression online, digital surveillance and censorship, privacy, and child protection online.

● Interact with and support the Division Chief and Front Office leadership to achieve office and undersecretariat goals.

● Advises the Front Office on integrating and elevating equities into family activities using public diplomacy tools, programs, and resources.

● Tracks the development of critical digital freedom policy issues and maintains updated knowledge of the subject matter area assigned.

● Maintains an appropriate professional network of interlocuters in the U.S. and global technology sectors.

● Identifies key talking points and media pressure points to mobilize foreign public opinion on digital freedom issues.

● Provide direct support to policy team in building policy capacity, visibility and partnerships in the Department, and coordination with interagency.

● Development of briefing materials, remarks, and other products for senior officials.

● Support the Digital Freedom Division to represent in exchanges with foreign officials, private sector, and global civil society stakeholders to discuss digital freedom issues and to convey U.S. government policies related to those matters.

● Draft and clear briefing material, remarks, and other products for office and Department senior officials as assigned.

Requirements.

● Master’s degree, JD, or PhD in a field relevant to international politics/law and/or technology, or a Bachelor’s degree and relevant international policy experience with increasing responsibilities, demonstrating expertise in geopolitical issues related to technology diplomacy and/or digital freedom.

● Active Secret or interim Secret clearance preferred with ability to obtain TS/SCI.

● Exceptional written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

Pay: $122,000.00 - $134,000.00 per year
