Full Job Description

Job Title: Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (AWS)

Location: Austin, TX - must be local and able to be onsite 1-2 days per week

Duration: 6 month contract-to-hire

Compensation: $75-$95/HR

Work schedule: Monday-Friday (8 AM-5PM CST) - onsite 1-2x per week

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision and 401(k).

What You’ll Do

Design, deploy, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure supporting business-critical applications.
Optimize cloud environments for performance, scalability, cost efficiency, security, and availability.
Build and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible).
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across cloud infrastructure, networking, and application deployments.
Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, including IAM, encryption, and compliance standards.
Partner with DevOps, engineering, and business teams to deliver scalable cloud solutions.
Support cloud-native architectures, including microservices and serverless workloads.
Mentor junior engineers and provide exceptional service to internal customers.
Stay current on AWS technologies and recommend improvements to cloud strategy.

What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent practical experience.
4+ years of hands-on AWS cloud infrastructure experience (Azure/GCP experience is a plus).
Strong experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, VPC, ECS/EKS, Fargate, and CloudWatch.
Experience with IaC tools (CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines.
Solid understanding of cloud networking, security best practices, and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, NIST, GDPR).
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
Proficiency in one or more scripting/programming languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell, C#, or Go).
Proven troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently across teams.
AWS and IaC certifications highly preferred.
