Job Summary

Cretus Innovations is a startup company that is developing a unique ramjet missile defense system. Our primary objective is to find an aeronautical engineer or grad student that can provide preliminary aerodynamic engineering analysis that can be provided to potential investors.

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Aerodynamics Engineer to join our aerospace engineering team. In this role, you will lead the analysis, design, and testing of aerodynamic components and systems to optimize missile performance and efficiency. You will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to develop cutting-edge solutions that meet rigorous safety and regulatory standards. Your expertise will drive advancements in fluid dynamics, computational modeling, and system integration, contributing to the development of next-generation aerospace vehicles. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the future of aviation technology through hands-on engineering development and testing.

Responsibilities

Conduct detailed aerodynamic analysis using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools to evaluate airflow, drag, lift, and other critical parameters for missile components.
Develop and refine 3D models and CAD designs utilizing software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, and Pro/ENGINEER to support aerodynamic optimization.
Perform structural and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) assessments to ensure mechanical integrity under operational loads following ASME codes & standards.
Collaborate with systems engineering teams to integrate aerodynamics with avionics, structural design, and manufacturing processes.
Lead engineering testing efforts including wind tunnel experiments, flight tests, and data collection to validate simulation results.
Analyze engineering data using MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, and other programming tools for requirements management, signal processing, and data analysis.
Manage project schedules effectively while coordinating cross-functional teams to meet project milestones in aerospace design development.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on fluid dynamics or aerodynamics.
Proven experience with CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent or OpenFOAM; familiarity with CAD tools like CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo; and proficiency in FEA software like ANSYS Mechanical or Abaqus.
Strong programming skills in Python, C++, C#, MATLAB, or similar languages for engineering analysis and automation.
Knowledge of aerospace design standards including FAA regulations (Federal Aviation Regulations), AS9100 quality standards, and DoD experience is highly desirable.
Experience with requirements management tools and systems engineering processes for complex aerospace projects.
Ability to perform structural analysis (FEA), mechanical design tasks, root cause analysis, and system design integration.
Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and technical documentation; leadership experience is a plus.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes, assembly techniques, sensors integration, and aviation maintenance practices is advantageous.
