About the Company

Nordic Analytical Laboratories is a state-certified and ISO/IEC 17025-accredited cannabis testing laboratory providing analytical testing services to Colorado's regulated cannabis industry. As our operations continue to grow, we are seeking a Laboratory Director to oversee laboratory operations, quality systems, regulatory compliance, and staff management while ensuring the delivery of accurate, reliable, and compliant testing services.

Position Summary

The Laboratory Director is responsible for the overall management of laboratory operations, quality assurance and quality control programs, regulatory compliance, and personnel oversight. This role ensures adherence to ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements, Colorado state regulations, and internal quality standards. The successful candidate will maintain operational efficiency, oversee quality systems, support staff development, and ensure the laboratory consistently delivers defensible and compliant analytical results.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily laboratory operations to ensure efficiency, compliance, and adherence to established quality standards.
Manage and maintain the laboratory's Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
Ensure compliance with all applicable Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED), and other regulatory requirements.
Develop, review, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and laboratory documentation.
Monitor quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) programs to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency.
Coordinate proficiency testing, internal audits, external audits, corrective actions, and accreditation activities.
Investigate nonconformances, implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and oversee continuous improvement initiatives.
Supervise laboratory personnel, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and professional development.
Ensure staff are properly trained on laboratory procedures, quality requirements, and regulatory expectations.
Review laboratory records, analytical data, quality control documentation, and reports to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Oversee sample workflow, laboratory scheduling, and resource allocation to maintain turnaround times and client expectations.
Coordinate preventative maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and service activities for laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
Serve as the primary point of contact during regulatory inspections, accreditation assessments, and compliance audits.
Develop, validate, and maintain analytical methods while ensuring compliance with QA/QC requirements, ISO 17025 standards and state regulatory guidelines
Provide technical support to clients regarding testing requirements, compliance standards, and laboratory services.
Promote a culture of quality, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
