Location: Vero Beach
Job Type: Contract (6 Months)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST
Pay: $45–$55/hour (1099 Contract)
Travel: None

Position Summary

Stratosphere Quality is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Administrator / Quality Engineer I to support quality operations, documentation control, customer requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment. This position will be responsible for maintaining quality records, supporting corrective actions, managing customer quality documentation, and assisting with quality investigations to ensure compliance with customer and company standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, experience working with quality systems, and the ability to analyze data and generate reports to support operational decision-making. Quality Engineers commonly support quality controls, corrective actions, audits, inspections, and process improvements.

This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity with an anticipated six-month assignment. Compensation ranges from $45.00 to $55.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications. Contractors are responsible for their own tax obligations, insurance, and any applicable business expenses. This position is not a W-2 employment opportunity and does not include employee benefits.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and manage quality records, controlled documents, and production-related quality documentation.
Review, validate, and organize quality data to ensure accuracy and compliance with established requirements.
Support product launches, engineering changes, and documentation updates through preparation and maintenance of quality-related records.
Assist with customer complaint investigations and corrective action activities using structured problem-solving methodologies, including 8D processes.
Participate in return material evaluations, containment activities, and disposition recommendations.
Support nonconforming material review and resolution processes.
Monitor quality performance throughout manufacturing and assembly operations.
Generate reports, maintain tracking systems, and provide updates on quality metrics and performance indicators.
Assist with internal audits and quality system compliance activities.
Perform basic inspections and verification activities as needed.
Collaborate with production, engineering, and operations teams to drive issue resolution and process improvement initiatives.
Support continuous improvement efforts focused on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Create, maintain, and organize Quality Control (QC) packets and quality documentation.
Process and maintain Part Submission Warrants (PSW), quality records, and customer documentation.
Support Root Cause Analysis and 8D Corrective Action investigations.
Review, track, and disposition non-conforming materials.
Assist with RMA investigations and containment activities.
Generate quality reports and analyze production and defect data.
Support internal and customer audits.
Maintain document control systems and quality records.
Assist in monitoring quality metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Review work instructions, procedures, and specifications for compliance.
Coordinate with operations, production, and customer teams to resolve quality concerns.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and corrective action programs. Quality Engineers frequently assist with audits, quality metrics, inspections, corrective actions, and process improvements.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
2+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
Experience working with quality documentation and record control.
Knowledge of 8D methodology, CAPA, and Root Cause Analysis.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including reporting and data analysis.
Experience generating reports and tracking quality metrics.
Ability to read and interpret procedures, specifications, and technical documentation.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in automotive, aerospace, or manufacturing environments.
Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or other quality management systems.
Experience supporting audits and compliance activities.
Knowledge of quality tools and continuous improvement methodologies.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment.
