Full Job Description

The Production Planner/Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules that ensure on-time delivery while optimizing labor, materials, and equipment utilization. This role serves as the central coordination point between Sales, Operations, Purchasing, Quality, and Manufacturing to balance customer demand with plant capacity.

Responsibilities:

Develop, maintain, and adjust daily and weekly production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and inventory levels.
Analyze capacity by press, work center, and labor availability to ensure realistic production commitments.
Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure raw materials and components are available to meet scheduled production.
Review open orders and prioritize jobs based on customer requirements and business objectives.
Communicate schedule changes to Production, Customer Service, and Management in a timely manner.
Monitor work-in-process (WIP) and finished goods inventory levels.
Identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements to improve throughput and on-time delivery.
Work within ERP/MRP systems to release jobs, update schedules, and maintain accurate production data.
Participate in daily production meetings and provide schedule updates.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning, scheduling, and inventory control.
Develop long-term capacity planning strategies to support sales growth.

Requirements and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Operations Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment (rubber, plastics, or industrial manufacturing preferred).
Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with capacity planning by equipment (e.g., presses, work centers).
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
Experience coordinating material availability with production schedules.
