Full Job Description

We are looking for the ideal full-time Assistant Library Clerk at our Morocco location.

Job Description

The regular work schedule consists of Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., along with two Saturdays per month from 7:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Work schedules may be adjusted as needed to meet the operational needs of the library.

The Assistant Library Clerk is responsible for the smooth daily operation of this Library on days when he/she is scheduled to work. These duties include, but are not limited to, providing friendly and accurate service, numerous circulation desk duties, courteous and helpful telephone usage, answering reference questions, processing new materials and assisting with questions about the Library’s public access computers.

* A willingness to help out in special situations and cooperate as a team member with the library staff in performing any duty essential to the achievement of efficient library operations
* Strong customer service attitude, high energy, creativity, professionalism, excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), ability to maintain good relations with staff and public, initiative, comfortable with ALL age groups, team player

* In addition, the candidate(s) must have expertise and proficiency with computers and computer equipment, working knowledge of basic office applications and the Internet.

* Must have the ability to reach up and down to shelve materials, grip materials, and manipulate materials weighing up to 20 pounds.

The Assistant Clerk will:

Perform daily circulation desk duties that may include:

Providing courteous and friendly patron service
Answering the telephone in a friendly and courteous manner
Registering new patrons
Checking materials in and out
Maintaining overdue records
Collecting various monies and recording those funds accurately
Preparing InfoExpress transit parcels for shipment 3 times each week
Sorting InfoExpress transit parcels accordingly
Reshelving library materials
Preparing Inter-Library Loan (ILL) requests
Answering questions about public access computers, maintain records of usages, and notify Director or Automation Assistant about problems
Being knowledgeable about Library services and programs, and helping to promote those programs
Answering reference questions, including directing questions to other staff members or agencies
Sorting and distributing transit between libraries
Keeping public areas clean and organized
Seasonally decorating public areas
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
