Full Job Description

Job Summary: The Programs Manager role is a high-visibility, front-of-the-room position responsible for shaping learning experiences that influence how leaders think, connect, and act in our community. The person in this role will design and facilitate meaningful program days, engaging with high school sophomores, young professionals and top civic and business leaders, and ensure our programs remain relevant, engaging, and impactful.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Design, Leadership and Execution

Alongside the program team, plan and execute the Flagship LJ, Youth LJ, and Young Professional programs to further LJ’s organization’s mission, vision and values.
With the support of VP of Programs and LJ Team, identify subject matter expert alumni and engage them in planning and execution of program days.
Design program agendas that combine educational, experiential and interactive learning experiences.
Secure partners, presenters and/or activities to advance learning agenda for program participants.
Ensure each program delivers professional, high-energy and impactful student or adult learning experience.
Build and maintain strong relationships with business, nonprofit, and civic partners, representing the organization both internally and externally with credibility and professionalism.

Facilitation & Front-of-Room Leadership

Serve as a primary facilitator, confidently leading groups of 40-60 students or professionals.
Create an engaging environment that encourages dialogue, connection, healthy conflict, and reflection.
Navigate complex or sensitive topics with professionalism, skill, and empathy.

Program Operations and Evaluation

Schedule meetings, manage agendas, and handle correspondence with alumni volunteers and invited presenters.
Foster interaction and engagement among program participants during and between classes.
Manage and ensure completion of any pre and post program assessments and/or pre-work required of participants.
Continuously refine programming using participant feedback, research, and emerging leadership trends.

Development and Management

Contribute to strategic projects, and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Promote LJ’s mission and programs through community engagement and outreach as encouraged by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications (Required, unless otherwise stated):

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
5+ years of experience in youth and/or adult leadership development, learning and development, nonprofit programming, or a related field.
Demonstrated knowledge of principles of youth and/or adult learning through formal training or practical experience.
Experience designing, facilitating and evaluating structured, engaging and outcomes-driven learning programs, curricula, or experiences.
Ability to manage program lifecycles, including development, delivery, documentation, and evaluation, while handling multiple priorities and timelines.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to adapt in fast-paced or ambiguous environments.
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with experience working across diverse groups and building relationships with staff, volunteers, and community partners.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences.
Innovative, proactive, and action-oriented mindset, with the ability to pilot new ideas and continuously improve programs.
Technical proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word), as well as familiarity with digital communication tools, project management and CRM tools (e.g., Neon).
Preferred: Experience with leadership assessment tools such as MBTI, DiSC, and/or 360-degree feedback instruments.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to type, touch, handle or feel; bend and stoop and reach with hands and arms. This position must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of various items for set-up and teardown for any LJ event as required.

Transportation: Personal vehicle required for in-person work meetings and events, and for transporting materials to off-site events.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional early morning, evening and weekend work are required.

Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel is expected.

Pay: $65,000.00 per year
