The award-winning Vermont Standard weekly newspaper in Woodstock, VT, is hiring a new managing editor.

This is an exceptional opportunity for someone with journalism training, news reporting experience, a lot of energy, and a passion for telling local stories in one of New England’s most beautiful areas – the ten towns that make up the Greater Woodstock region in Windsor County.

This position may be a very good fit for a veteran journalist who wants to wind down his/her career while doing meaningful work leading an exceptional weekly in a wonderful town, or it may be quite attractive to a passionate up-and-coming journalist who wants this shot at being a top editor at a very good paper that is experimenting with exciting new concepts.

At 173 years old, the Vermont Standard is the state’s oldest weekly newspaper and still independently owned, yet it is innovative and constantly striving for excellence. In fact, in 7 of the last 12 years. the Standard was cited by the New England Newspaper & Press Association as the top small weekly newspaper in the six-state region. In addition to our flagship, we also publish a specialty publication and award-winning digital news and information products.

Our managing editor must reside in our local area.

However, we do offer the flexibility to work hybrid -- part of the time from home and part of the time at the office in Woostock.
