Communities Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: Plans, supports, and implements the various events, projects, and activities of assigned Sections, Divisions and/or Committees (Communities) of the Association. In carrying out this responsibility, the Manager shall work in consultation with the Communities and other departments of the Association & Foundation, including volunteer leadership.

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field. Exceptional communications/interpersonal skills. Ability to clearly articulate ideas, multitask, frame challenges, highlight opportunities, and proactively offer solutions. Excels in managing relationships with volunteers. Should be self-motivated, highly flexible (travel required), and a fast learner of system technologies and business practices.

EXPERIENCE:

Excellent problem solving and project management/planning skills
Strong writing skills
Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and initiatives by balancing organizational needs, goals, and resources
Strong customer service and sales skills
Outstanding ability to build and maintain strong relationships
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe platforms
Knowledge in planning and marketing events/meetings
CRM and AMS experience a plus
Social media and digital communication business experience a plus
Salesforce experience a plus

ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Must have excellent grammar skills; an excellent professional, positive demeanor, both in person and online; and a strong collaborative focus. Must be able to learn and adapt to new business systems quickly. Understanding of the legal profession desired.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports To: Director of Communities

FLSA STATUS: Full Time/Exempt

JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Continual communications with the chairs of council/committee members guiding them through policy/procedures
Oversee activities and projects the Communities initiate
Schedule meetings for councils and committees
Prepare and distribute meeting notices
Assist with procedures for nominating committees in each Community
Maintain accurate appointed/elected member records in database
Collect and distribute council/committee meeting minutes
Draft budgets and maintain and review Communities’ budgets monthly
Coordinate sponsorship for targeted events; work with Continuing Legal Education Department
Coordinate awards (if applicable)
Coordinate all networking events and respective annual meeting social events with hotels/restaurants and prepare and distribute invitations
Provide Communities with tools provided by NCBA departments to strengthen and grow the membership and engagement of individual Communities
Travel to council meetings/networking events/annual meetings
Promote Communities by using social media at select events
Obtain meeting agendas, materials from the chair, minutes, membership report and budget to produce and distribute meeting packets
Update the attendance sheet after each council/committee meeting
Answer calls and emails regarding Community activities and membership
Assist with staffing and coordination for larger NCBA and NCBF programs such as 4ALL and the NCBA Annual Meeting
