We are seeking a teacher with experience and a love of children in elementary grades who has experience with and a commitment to: Instruction and Curriculum: The teacher will create and adapt math and science lessons aligned with state standards and school curriculum.The teacher will deliver instruction on a variety of topics, including ratios, pre-algebra, fractions, earth science, life science, and physical science, depending on the specific curriculum. Curriculum development needs to focus on students' strengths, interests, and varying entry points, utilizing low-floor high-ceiling tasks. The teacher will utilize technology to enhance the learning experience and support inquiry-based practices.Project-Based Learning: Planning and implementing rigorous, relevant, real-world projects integrates a variety of skills.Familiarity with All Learners Network, Illustrative, UDL and best practices in STEM are beneficial.
Assessment and Feedback: Assess student progress: The teacher will use various assessments, including formative and summative assessments, to monitor student learning and adjust the curriculum accordingly. Provide feedback: The teacher will offer timely and constructive feedback to students on their work.Maintain records: The teacher will keep accurate records of student progress, report cards and attendanceClassroom Environment and Management: The teacher will create a positive learning environment, fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom.The teacher will effectively manage student behavior and maintain a positive classroom climate. Knowledge of Responsive classroom and PBIS are beneficial. Creating a classroom culture characterized by a restorative approach to student relationships fosters a climate of belonging, respect, and inclusion.Parents as partners: The ideal candidate will have a history of working collaboratively with families and students with diverse backgrounds and needs.Other Responsibilities: Participate in professional development: The teacher will participate in ongoing professional development to enhance their skills and knowledge.Collaborate with colleagues: The teacher will work with other teachers and staff members to support student learning and school-wide initiatives.Complete administrative tasks: The teacher will complete necessary administrative tasks, such as grading assignments, completing online trainings, and preparing reportsQualifications: Bachelors Degree in the content area: Eligible to hold Vermont Certification in Elementary EducationThis position is a 1.0 FTE.
