Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Gynecologic Oncology Coder / Biller, where your expertise will directly impact patient care and revenue cycle efficiency. In this vital role, you will accurately interpret medical documentation, assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes, and ensure seamless billing processes for gynecologic oncology services. Your attention to detail and knowledge of medical coding standards will help optimize reimbursement, maintain compliance, and support the delivery of exceptional patient care. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your coding skills within a specialized medical field, contributing to a well-organized and efficient healthcare environment.

Duties

Review and analyze medical records, including operative reports, pathology reports, and clinical documentation related to gynecologic oncology cases.
Assign accurate ICD-9 (International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision), ICD-10 (Tenth Revision), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes based on documented diagnoses and procedures.
Ensure proper coding for inpatient and outpatient services in accordance with medical coding guidelines and insurance requirements.
Process insurance third-party billing claims efficiently using billing software integrated with EMR (Electronic Medical Record) and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health insurance policies, claim processing procedures, and revenue cycle management practices to maximize reimbursement.
Collaborate with medical office staff to verify accuracy of coded data and resolve billing discrepancies related to gynecologic oncology treatments.
Stay informed about changes in medical terminology, coding standards, and regulatory compliance to ensure precise documentation and billing practices.

Requirements

Proven experience in medical coding and billing with at least 2-5 years of experience specifically in both oncology and gynecology.
Strong understanding of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, CPT coding procedures, DRG assignment, and medical coding guidelines.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for electronic health record management related to billing and coding processes.
Knowledge of health insurance claim processing, third-party billing procedures, and revenue cycle management strategies.
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately.
Proficiency in using billing software tools combined with solid knowledge of medical terminology and records management.
Ability to stay current with evolving medical coding standards such as ICD updates (ICD-10), CPT revisions, and compliance regulations.
Prior experience in a medical office environment or healthcare facility is highly preferred; strong organizational skills are essential.
