Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Coding Specialist/Billing Clerk to join our healthcare team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses, managing billing processes, and ensuring seamless revenue cycle management. Your expertise will help optimize insurance claim processing, improve medical record accuracy, and support efficient financial operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the integrity of medical billing and coding workflows while working within a dynamic healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

Codes all diagnoses/ procedures in accordance to ICD-10 coding principles and Coding Manual.
Ensure accurate electronic health record (EHR) management for billing and coding purposes using various billing software and EMR/EHR systems.
Prepare and submit health insurance claims to third-party payers, verifying coverage details and ensuring compliance with insurance requirements.
Conduct thorough medical record reviews to support accurate coding, billing, and documentation of services rendered.
Collaborate with medical office staff to resolve billing discrepancies, follow up on unpaid claims, and facilitate timely collections.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical coding guidelines, health insurance policies, and revenue cycle management best practices.
Assist in training team members on new coding procedures or updates in medical terminology, ICD coding standards, or billing software.

Requirements

Proven experience in medical coding with proficiency in ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG assignment, and medical terminology.
Strong understanding of medical billing processes, health insurance claim processing, and third-party billing workflows.
Knowledge of medical records management, revenue cycle management, and health insurance policies.
Ability to interpret medical documentation accurately following current coding guidelines for inpatient and outpatient services.
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Prior experience in a healthcare setting involving medical office operations or medical collection activities is preferred.
