Full Job Description

Individual Applying for this position must have minimum of 2 years experience teaching in the field.

Pay rate: $28-31 / hour

Work Hours: 9:00am - 2:00pm and/or 5:30pm - 10:30pm (M-F) remote

Clinical Schedule: Saturday rotations vary (typically 1 to 3 Saturdays per month, depending on the clinical assignment)

Summary:

The primary responsibility of each instructor of GSSTI is the safety and well being of all students. Instructors are responsible for providing quality academic instruction to students. In addition, it is the responsibility of every Instructor to ensure that each student in his/her class has an enjoyable, productive, challenging, and meaningful experience in that class. The instructor is not provided with office space, but rather utilizes his/her home for preparatory or other work relating to position.

General Responsibilities

Practice excellence in teaching and instruction.
Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of their field or discipline.
Display an ability to interpret and evaluate the theories of their field or discipline.
Demonstrate evidence of professional growth and academic currency.
Carry out the responsibilities specific to his/her area, department and/or program.
Contribute to the Institute Community by participation in service activities.
Contribute to the local community by participation in service activities.

Training and Instruction

Begin class on time in an orderly, organized fashion.
Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning.
Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students.
Be courteous to and approachable by students.
Follow approved policies and procedure in the conduct of all instruction activities.
Use effective motivation to help stimulate a personal desire to learn the subject/skill(s).
Prepare labs for classes (if required).
Constantly strive to improve instruction through:
Self-analysis and evaluation
Observation and study of new instructional techniques for lecture, laboratory or performance courses.
Stay current in their subject matter through professional development, through involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conferences or workshop
The use of technology where applicable to enhance the learning environment.
Re-evaluation and re-definition of instructional objectives.
Continual revision and updating of course content and materials of instruction.
Initiation and/or participation in overall department/division wide program development, maintenance, evaluation, revision and/or expansion.
Meet and assist students during office hours or by appointment at other reasonable times.
Prepare complete course syllabus.
Utilize standard methods of evaluation listed in course outlines or other materials approved in advance by the Director.

Evaluation of Student Learning

Establish and follow meaning learning objectives.
Interact with students regarding the progress of students in your class.
Monitor the behavior of students’ academic setting, monitor classroom operation in terms of absenteeism, tardiness, and discipline.
Develop and explain a method that fairly measures student progress toward course objectives.
Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit monthly progress report and quiz/test grade roster to division administration each month according to established deadlines.
Submit mid-program reports to the Director on any student(s) who may be having difficulties in class.
Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and circumstances.
Tutoring and academic counseling of students.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $28.00 - $31.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25.0 – 30.0 per week
