Full Job Description

Work from home, calling businesses to place an offer on a fundraising card for free to help schools raise money.

Job Summary

Easy Fundraising Cards creates fundraising discount cards that schools, sports groups, and nonprofits sell to raise money. You'll connect with local merchants and ask them to support these organizations by putting an offer on the Fundraising card, at no cost to them.

What You'll Do

We provide a list of merchants. We give you a phone script designed to produce specific responses, and we show you exactly how to track your calls and keep your notes. You call, keep detailed notes, follow up, and secure the offers.

You are not selling anything, and you are not asking anyone for money. You are calling a local business to invite them to place an offer on a continuous-use discount card that helps a nearby school raise funds. It costs the business nothing.

What it takes

To complete one discount card, you can expect to make 150+ calls, speak with 50 to 70 decision-makers, and secure about 20 offers.

We are looking for a commitment to complete at least one card per week, with calls spread over 2 to 3 days. Depending on your abilities this takes roughly 10 to 20 hours of calling per card.

Completing a card efficiently requires self-discipline: keeping detailed notes, setting follow-up dates and times, and calling people back when you said you would.

This is a numbers game, and success comes from consistent follow-up and persistence. Those who keep calling until a card is 100% complete tend to have the most success and finish cards faster. Those who make only the minimum number of calls needed to reach the required number of merchants often struggle, take longer, and may become frustrated.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who wants to do this for years, not just weeks or months.

We have had callers stay with us for more than a decade. Ed in New Mexico called on cards for fourteen years before retiring. Candice in Kansas started calling on cards in 2014 and is still calling today.

That is the kind of long-term working relationship we hope to build.

Is this a good fit?

As an independent contractor, you set your own schedule. However, merchants are usually easiest to reach during normal weekday business hours, when decision-makers are at their businesses and available to talk.

Do you have children in school? The best calling hours closely align with the school day. Candice called for more than twelve years around her daughter’s school and after-school activities.

Who this is not for

This may not be a good fit if you are looking for guaranteed hourly pay, cannot make calls during weekday business hours, dislike detailed follow-up, or prefer short-term work.

What you need

To be genuinely organized. You will work on a list of 100 or more merchants, keep detailed notes with dates and times, and call people back exactly when you said you would. (We show you how.)
To be comfortable and clear on the phone. No telemarketing or sales experience is required, and we train you. Previous phone or customer service experience helps, but we care far more about how you work than about where you worked.
A quiet place to work.
Your own computer, internet, and phone.

What we offer

2 to 5 hours of step-by-step training, one task at a time, before you ever make a call
$100 training bonus, paid when you complete your first card. (We value your time.)
$275 to $325 per completed card (depending on the number of merchants needed).

This is an independent contractor / 1099 position, not an employee position. You set your own schedule, use your own equipment, and are paid per completed card rather than by wage or salary.
