This position supports forecasting and weather analysis efforts, while continuing to develop skills under the guidance of other team members.
Job Responsibilities:

Work a balanced, rotating schedule that includes both daytime shifts as well as night or early morning shifts.

Create customized forecasts under the supervision of experienced meteorologists.

Continuously improve forecasting processes, technique and accuracy.

Develop proficiency with meteorological tools and data sources, including numerical models, METARs, BUFKIT and GR2.

Build an understanding of client operations and decision-making processes.

Demonstrate the ability to provide clear, concise and effective written communication.

Increase efficiency and timeliness of forecasts.

Provide weather consultation, responding to client-specific questions.

Monitor weather and provide timely heads-up notifications.

Create Certified Snowfall Totals (CSTs) during winter months.
- Assist with and explore other departments, such as social media, forensics, programming, etc.

Succeed in a fast-paced environment, working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Requirements:
- B.S. in Meteorology or equivalent in atmospheric sciences

1 year or less operational forecast experience – new graduate

Experience in an operational forecasting environment as an intern
-
Experience giving forecast phone support a plus
-
Basic understanding of a wide array of NWS data, products and tools
-
In-depth experience using numerical prediction models for short, medium and long-range forecasting

Excellent writing and verbal communications skills
-
Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word and Teams
-
Desire and ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment

This is a remote opportunity that can be done from anywhere in the continental United States.

Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization. F-1 visa holders with Optional Practical Training (OPT) who will require H-1B status, TNs, or current H-1B visa holders will not be considered. US Compensation Range: A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $45,000 - $52,000 per year. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. AEM considers a wide range of factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education, licensure and certifications, key skills as well as other market and business considerations when extending an offer. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
