Job Description
Ensures immediate and efficient delivery of residential/community services to persons with Developmental Disabilities. Carries out job assignments and reports to Human Resources on a weekly basis. Supervises and teaches DSP staff to understand the needs of people with developmental disabilities to ensure quality services to consumers. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish a healthy culture in the home that reflects our values of love, acceptance, and accountability.
- Acts as a role model for consumers and staff in areas of speech, behavior, and dress.
- Assists in instructing staff to guide and motivate consumers to develop to full potential in social skills, interpersonal relationships, and moral responsibility.
- Assists Coordinator in orientation, training, supervision, evaluation, and ongoing in-services/workshops as needed for staff to ensure high quality of care.
- Supports and interprets agency policy and philosophy to staff.
- Participates in planning and implementing all on/off grounds daily activity and recreation programs.
- Ensures that in working with families, a positive connection to the group residence/site is maintained and home visits are both coordinated properly and encourage
- Maintains and monitors the group residence/site budget (programmatic funds) including house petty cash and consumer spending allowances.
- In all homes and sites, is responsible to cover hours as needed should staff coverage be unavailable.
- Drives his/her personal auto between assignments, and transport clients as required into the community for medical, recreational, personal, vocational or social
- Managers are responsible for all medical appointments
- Attends and assists in the coordination of ISP meetings, prepares and presents factual, observable, and measurable data concerning consumers' programs and behaviors.
- Attends all meetings as required by Coordinator, Director, House Manager Supervisor, including bi-weekly team meetings, staff meetings, orientations, and agency staff meetings.
- Oversees the daily operations of the staff, and implements the principals of effective performance management on an on-going basis.
- Drives his/her personal auto between assignments, and transport clients as required.
- Demonstrates awareness of, follows all safety policies and procedures, and adheres to all recommended safe work practices.
- Contributes to the control of hazards in a specified area.
- Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.
Educational/Training Requirements: High school Diploma or equivalent
Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience serving individuals with developmental disabilities.
Licenses/Certifications:
Maintain both a valid Ohio Driver’s License and a driving record that meets All Heart’s insurance company standards (e.g.. less than 3 incidents over a 3 year period).
Must have a reliable personal automobile available on every shift you are scheduled for.
Maintain personal auto liability insurance at the level that the Agency and the insurance carrier requires.
Ensures all essential training requirements are completed, Annual Training, CPR, First Aid, Certified Medication Passing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of appropriate developmental treatment programs, evaluation and observation techniques, use of assessment tools and program development expansion.
- Knowledge of rights of MR/DD consumers and the ability to promote human dignity and protect the Constitutional rights of consumers.
- Knowledge of safety practices, sanitation methods, and concerns, skills in housekeeping and cooking standards and ordering of supplies and use of all equipment.
- Knowledge of and ability to express consumers' progress of behaviors, both in writing and orally.
- Knowledge of all regulatory licensure standards to help ensure compliance.
- Knowledge of and adherence to dietary laws applicable to residences/sites.
- Basic knowledge of accounting procedures.
- Good organizational and time management skills. Ability to work under stress.
- Ability to travel throughout the community, to communicate appropriately, to represent the department and the agency to other colleagues and professionals.
- Ability to prepare clear oral and written documents and reports.
