Full Job Description

Principle Accountabilities:

1. Assumes responsibility for assisting with coordination of patient admissions to the hospital by:
Insuring that all surgical patients have a bed reserved after surgery.

2. Working with ADON to handle same day admissions to the hospital.

3. Answering calls from doctors' offices to admit patient or reserve beds for future surgeries and enters future admits into PHS.

4. Notifying residents of their new admissions and transfer

5. Assist with the registration process for admissions to hospital and other departments as necessary. Facilitates quick registrations upon physician request. Problem solves registration issues as necessary.

6. Acts as a receptionist in the Nursing Office by answering inquiries of a general nature from patients, visitors, other departments, nursing staff, and physicians, assisting them in a friendly and helpful manner. Regards information from Nursing Office as confidential; discreet about employees’ work schedules, sick, absent or late call ins, personal telephone numbers, etc., and by being selective when providing this information to anyone.

7. Responsible to assist with staffing changes in Kronos including sick calls, transferring hours and single zone reports from Kronos for next 24 hours.

8. Assumes responsibility staffing variance reports, census tally and 2100 census reconciliation

9. Assumes responsibility for special projects which include:

Completing special typing (computer) requests, including, but not limited to, committee meeting minutes, nursing policies, etc.

Performing additional duties such as assembling policy manuals and assisting with the updating of all manuals as directed.

10. Maintains a safe environment.

11. Performs other work duties as assigned.

Employee is required to sit continuously and walk occasionally. Employee must lift/carry a light (1-20 lbs.) and medium (21-50 lbs.) load occasionally. Employee is frequently required to bend, squat, lift waist to overhead. Employee is occasionally required to reach forward and reach overhead. For repetitive action, employee is required to use both hands for simple grasping and pushing/pulling. Employee is frequently exposed to electrical hazards and CRT terminal work. Verbal and cognitive, as well as motor coordination and manual dexterity are required. Speech, hearing, and near-visual acuity are required. May be required to work on other patient care units as needed.

High school graduate or equivalent.
