Full Job Description

ESOL Instructor

NDEC-Lawrence is a mission-driven Adult Learning Center in Lawrence, MA seeking a few dynamic ESOL instructors who can teach in person in the evening or on Fri/Sat mornings. Positions will begin mid-late August.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

· Teach level-appropriate, English language lessons contextualized to students' vocational, community, and personal goals.

· Monitor student goals; provide encouragement and strategies for students to attain them

· Select and develop appropriate materials and methods that encourage student achievement

· Implement the Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Standards for Adult Education as part of curriculum planning.

· Use Google Suite tools including Google Classroom, Docs, Slides, Gmail

· Assist in planning, promotion, and implementation of program activities

· Refer students to academic and career advisor, when appropriate

· Maintain required teaching logs and lesson plans

· Complete and review progress reports with students twice per year

· Provide individualized tutoring for students as needed

· Collaborate with NDEC colleagues to develop curriculum that meets the needs of students

· Attend ESOL teacher meetings and NDEC staff meetings, as scheduled

· Create professional development (PD) and attend associated PD activities

· Pivot to on-line instruction, using Zoom, as circumstances require

· Other duties as assigned

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $27.00 - $29.25 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 15 per week
